Artificial intelligence is currently finding its place in healthcare, although current applications may not be as robust as our imaginations are when it comes to artificial intelligence of the future. Current applications include natural-language processing, which interprets electronic health record information to automate and verify coding, identify incomplete records, and flag undiagnosed condition indicators.
Machine learning is also being used successfully in healthcare. This application used advanced statistical techniques to find patterns in data in order to make predictions. This technology can identify early indicators of disease, pinpoint the right prescription, and help call center agents to make decisions at an individual member level.
