Study Shows that Acetaminophen Can Elevate A CGM Reading
A recent study published in Diabetes Care has shown that diabetes patients who use continuous glucose monitors, need to be careful when taking acetaminophen because they may get an erroneous reading.
Researchers found that a CGM can inaccurately indicate that glucose levels are higher than they actually are. This could lead a patient to treat a high glucose level when it isn’t necessary.
The same problem was not found when taking acetaminophen while testing blood sugars with a glucose meter.
These findings were published in Diabetes Care on August 12, 2015 .
