The Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) has recently partnered with Accenture Federal Services to develop a framework for patient-generated data. This two-year consulting contract will allow Accenture Federal Services to work with the government to create a way to collect and use patient generated health data in both clinical care and research.
This development is the first step toward developing standards that would make patient health data interoperable. Patients are commonly using devices like fitness trackers and diet and exercise apps on their Smartphones and use of the patient-generated data could be extremely beneficial to medical providers.
