Dieters who want to increase their weight loss success may want to weigh-in more frequently. A new study suggests that consistent self-weighing could improve determination to drop pounds.
The study was completed at Boston College’s Connell School of Nursing and tracked the outcomes for nearly 150 people. All participants were involved in a 12-month study and were grouped based on how frequently they weighed themselves while dieting.
Participants who weighed themselves, at least, six times per week had the greatest increase in confidence in their ability to avoid overeating during a 12-month period. This was compared to people who weighed themselves less frequently.
These findings were presented at The American Heart Association Meeting in Phoenix, AZ on March 4, 2016.
