Healthcare industry reports and experts suggest that electronic health record (EHR) systems are crucial for strong patient engagement, effective population health management, and care coordination.
EHRs are particularly useful for accountable care organizations, offering a system in which providers can reference and store relevant patient information. This information can then be easily disseminated to other members of a care team.
Going forward, accountable care organizations (ACOs) will need to continue to assess how EHR technology is working. By ensuring strong interoperability, ample patient engagement, and effective care coordination, an ACO can provide better patient health.
