The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released an interactive mapping tool that can identify the disparities in chronic diseases among Medicare beneficiaries. This tool is available online and can be used to pinpoint a variety of significant differences, including health outcomes, spending, and medical utilization by location, ethnicity, and race.
This tool was created by KPMG and NORC at the University of Chicago. Its dynamic interface will allow users to see data regarding the prevalence of 18 chronic medical conditions, disability, and end-stage renal disease. Users will also be able to sort results by sex, age, residence, dual Medicaid/Medicare eligibility, ethnicity, and race.
These findings were published on Healthcare Dive on March 18, 2016.
