New Recruiting Strategies Could Reduce Clinician Shortages

Healthcare executives have heard warnings that a shortage is looming for the U.S. clinician workforce. This is especially true for rural areas. However, the creation of customized recruiting strategies may help leaders to balance clinician supply and demand.

One creative response to potential clinical shortage came from Kearny County Hospital. CEO Benjamin Anderson stated his organization addressed staff shortages by implanting a new model to attract both international and domestic providers. They also offer loan assistance, service opportunities, and ample paid time off.

These findings were published in the December 2017 edition of HealthLeaders Magazine.
